Both the Lite and full versions can be used as a standalone stopwatch with unlimited Marks and Splits. Just turn Twitter Off and the Mode (location reporting) Off to save battery and network resources.
Buying the full version provides you more information and convenience not found in the Lite version. Sales of the full version subsidize the availability of the Lite version on the App Store.
Specific differences:
The Lite version Stopwatch only shows Marks and Splits that are created manually by the app user. These Marks and Splits can be sent to other users or left local and unsent.
The Lite version Map shows Marks from other users, but the details are not available.
The difference is shown in this screenshot where the detail disclosure button (an "i" in a blue circle on iOS 7) is not to the right of the label on this active Mark. The active green marks will still turn red when a split is automatically triggered.
Marks on the map will be the main indication that you are successfully communicating with the others on your crew.
A limited Twitter Timeline also shows your Tweets from the app in the Lite version. If your Twitter account is Protected, you will not see your Tweets unless you use Restrict to Crew List. See Privacy for details.
The Settings tab in the Lite version only supports one Race file.
Instead of a selection of Races, "New Race..." will delete the current contents in the app and give you a new file.
The new file will still bring in the last 30 tweets for your Race Hashtag, so some active marks may appear on the Map. A good practice for your race crew is to change to a new Hashtag for each stage or event to avoid interference or old data.
The full version of the app saves all of the Race Specific settings in each Race file. Tip: This can be helpful in switching between races that are on a course at the same time (e.g. Mens and Womens races) as well as reviewing past races.
