Setup

321 Mark uses Twitter to send your Marks and Splits to others.

You need to create a Twitter ID to use with the App or use an existing one that you don't mind having lots of race related Tweets. You may want to create a bike race related twitter id using an email address that is not one of your primaries. See Privacy for more.

The Twitter ID you use needs to be allow tweets with location information. To enable this, go to the Twitter Website and navigate to Account Settings.

Select Settings on the drop down menu under the gear icon.

The Tweet location checkbox should be selected. You can also set Tweet privacy on this page. It is simpler to leave tweets public, but your privacy can be protected if you want to manage the Twitter users that can see your Tweets. (See the separate page on Privacy for more information.)

Once these are set correctly, click the Save changes button at the bottom of the page and enter your password as required.

Your iOS device also needs to be set up to use the Twitter Account.

To do this go to the Settings App and scroll down to select Twitter.

Add your Twitter ID:

Now your ID will be available when you are in 321 Mark.

The first time you use 321 Mark you will be asked permission for the App to use your location.

Select OK to allow using your Location.

Go to the App's Settings Tab (right most on bottom) and select your Twitter options.

Turn Use Twitter to "On". While this is selected, the app will fetch Tweets with your selected Race Hashtag every minute.

Also select the Twitter Account you set up for use with the app. You can have more than one Twitter account available on your device.

Leave "Show Tweet on Send" OFF unless you want to be interrupted by the Tweet details. Just be aware that there is a Tweet for every Mark and Split you send.

Version 2.0 has a limited Twitter Timeline to monitor the Tweets being sent. The Stopwatch tab formats the information from Twitter in the full version of 321 Mark.

You should select a Hashtag for your race that is not the most common hashtag for your race on twitter.

In the full version of the app, the race hashtag is saved in the Race file.

A good hashtag choice is short, but somewhat obscure and could change for each stage in a race. (I recommend changing it from the "321Mark" default.)

The Crew List is an advanced feature that fetches only from a Twitter List of screen names. When this is used, the Race Hashtag can be more common. It avoids interference from Tweets that don't come from your officiating crew.

The Crew List feature will be more fully explained in future additions to this support site.
